The snow leopard programme
In early October, a new episode of the Outdoor KZ programme about the Altai-Sayan ecoregion and the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve premiered on TV. The crew filmed the show at the nature reserve in July 2019 as part of a nature conservation expedition organised by the reserve together with the Notivory Wildlife Conservation Fund. Outdoor KZ is a television programme on the channel Kazakh TV that highlights the nature and tourism resources of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve is part of the Altai-Sayan ecoregion located at the junction of Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China. The snow leopard is a hallmark of the Altai and Sayan mountains. The episode features the animal and brings awareness to the problem of the shrinking snow leopard population in the region.
In July 2019, a group of photographers, journalists and wildlife cameramen went on an expedition to the Sayano-Shushensky reserve. The participants included Larisa Vasilyeva, a journalist for the Vokrug Sveta popular science magazine; Alexei Osokin, an animal photographer and writer for the Zoographia magazine; Stefano Tiozzo, an Italian photographer and wildlife cameraman; Margarita Kunkova, the press secretary and a journalist at Notivory; and Maxim Levitin, the host of Outdoor KZ.
During the expedition, the participants not only observed the nature conservation, research, environmental and educational activities at the Sayano-Shushensky reserve, but also plunged into the wonderful world of Siberian nature for several days where they watched the animals in their natural habitat.

When was the Red Book of Russia created?
In 2001. It contains rare species of animals, plants and birds. Each region of the country has its own Red Book. For example, 52 species of rare birds are protected in the Vladimir region. This is supported by the project "Let's save the Red Book Birds of Russia together!" of the Notivory Environmental Foundation.
