An artificial barrier will be created in the DPR to protect the forest from fires more than 2000 km long In the new regions of Russia, active work is underway to preserve and restore forests.
According to Alexey Shebalkov, chairman of the State Committee for Forestry and Hunting of the DPR, in the Donetsk People's Republic in 2024 it is planned to create more than 2,000 km of mineralized fire protection strips along the perimeter of forests. They must, if necessary, prevent the spread of fire and stop the fire.

To create this "safety belt", nine tractors were purchased in December 2023.
This is far from the only thing that has already been done and is still planned to be done to preserve the forests of new regions of the country.

In 2023, new subjects became participants in the international action "Garden of Memory" and the All-Russian action "Save the Forest", during which a million trees were planted in the DPR. Seedlings arrived in the forestry of the republic from the Leningrad region and Tatarstan. The actions "Garden of Memory" and "Save the Forest" will be held in the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions until 2026.

In 2023, the integration of the regional forest departments of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions into the forestry system of the Russian Federation began, the process is also planned to be completed by 2026.

The total financing of forestry in these regions in 2023 amounted to more than 140 million rubles, and the budget for 2024 is about 400 million.

The forest is one of the main riches of our country and the planet as a whole. Caring for the forest and its inhabitants is an important part of an eco–friendly lifestyle and a guarantee that our children will breathe clean, fresh air.
