For the first time, a tree from new regions has been included in the National Register of Old-age Trees of Russia

For the first time, a tree from new regions has been included in the National Register of Old-age Trees of Russia A 150-year-old oak tree grows in Zaporozhye, on the edge of the Elite Park in the village of Zarechnoye. Its height is about 23 m, the diameter of the crown is about 28 m. The tree has 7 trunks, and, according to local residents, has healing powers.

This oak is a witness to many historical events: two world wars, the revolution of 1917, the creation and collapse of the Soviet Union.

Now there are no fences, chains and signs around it, and the only natural protection of this tree is a few meters of dense shrubbery, tightly covering the unique natural monument from outsiders.

The oak was entered into the register in January of this year, and, according to a representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Zaporozhye region, this will help preserve the unique plant.

The National Register of old–growth trees is maintained within the framework of the program "Trees - monuments of wildlife". Now there are more than 1300 Russian plants in the list.
