The Notivory team has installed warning signs and information notices about rare waterfowl

Within the framework of the project "Let's save the Red Book birds of Russia together!", the implementation of which is carried out in the water area, as well as in the territory adjacent to the artificial reservoir formed as a result of the construction of a hydroelectric facility on the Simka River, near the village of Matveishchevo, Yuriev-Polsky district of the Vladimir region, the Notivory Environmental Foundation has installed warning signs and information notices for local residents.

Manufactured signs warn motorboat drivers to slow down and be vigilant in areas of potential nesting of waterfowl.

Informational full houses contain informative information about inhabited rare birds. For example, about the black-throated loon, which is a large waterfowl with ruby eyes and a strong voice. The loon has a body length of about 70 cm and a wingspan of up to 1.4 m, can stay underwater for up to 2 minutes and belongs to monogamous birds, forming a pair for life.

Informational full houses not only contain useful information about birds, but also tell about the rules of behavior on the territory of the reservoir. So, the team of the Notivory Foundation and the experts of the Project "Let's save the Red Book birds of Russia together!" recommend:

  • Do not run, do not make noise in the forest, do not disturb birds and animals.
  • Do not go near the nests of birds.
  • Do not touch the sockets.
  • In spring and early summer, do not take a dog into the forest. She can catch poorly flying chicks.
  • Do not catch and take home healthy chicks.
  • In early spring, build houses (artificial closed-type nests) for birds and hang them in gardens and parks.
  • Plant trees and various dense shrubs. It is in them that birds like to build their nests. It can be a rose hip, acacia or hawthorn.
  • Take care of the wounded birds found. Take them to veterinarians or to special reserves.

The main message of the stands that appeared is to protect the birds!

The project is implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
