Poaching in the Belgorod region
We are pleased to welcome you, dear friends!
Today we are forced to respond to the unfavourable situation caused by increasing cases of illegal killing and extermination of animals in the Belgorod region.
We have started receiving letters from residents of this region, saying that they notice more and more often the extermination of wild animals by poachers.
Illegal hunting has historically flourished in these areas. Nature has given us rich lands with unique biodiversity, which we have not learnt to appreciate, but have only learnt to consume irretrievably.
There are more than 2000 red-listed animals, about 500 species of rare fungi, lichens and plants on the territory of the Belgorod region. The numbers of some of them are sharply decreasing, while other species have already almost disappeared.
The Central Russian European mink, ermine, mottled gopher - all this is a short list from the Red Book of animals that fall victim to poachers. Their populations are now on the verge of extinction, and it pains us to realise this.
Due to the difficult situation in Belgorod region related to the SMO, some of the male population goes to territorial defence or helps the front, while others allow themselves to be engaged in illegal extraction of animals. In such difficult times it is important to help the country on all fronts. For our foundation, biodiversity conservation is a priority. That is why we are planning to go on an expedition to realise a project on wildlife conservation.
Nowadays, the eco-okhotnadzor is engaged in the fight against poaching in the region. Not much has been done over the past year. Judging by the indicators, the work is quite active. But at the same time, we believe that each of us must take responsibility for our home, which is not within the wicket or entrance, but much further away.
