How many containers do need for separate collection at home?1.   It is enough to put just one additional container (bucket/box/bag) to collect the recyclable packaging

2.   Another container is useful for collecting hazardous waste (energy-saving mercury lamps , batteries, accumulators, expired medicines , etc.) — it is better to store them in a dry and cool place out of reach of children.

What are the General rules for separate collection at home?1.   Recyclables must be clean from food and dry-so that the packaging does not smell when accumulated at home, at the supplier and processor. Everywhere people work manually with recyclables.

2.   Reduce the volume: fold cardboard boxes, compress aluminum cans and plastic bottles, put sour cream cups in one another — all this is necessary to take up less space at home, and there is enough common container in the yard for you and your neighbors, cars do not carry air, once again polluting the atmosphere.

What are the types of waste?

Now let's figure out what we form, how to sort it and where to hand it over.

First group: what you can to hand over in the yard.

Separate collection is best started with the basic types of secondary raw materials: waste paper, glass, metal, plastic bottles and cans. All this can be handed over in most cities of Russia in blue containers near the house.These types of packaging are collected in a single container in the yard. The main thing is that it is separate from wet, food and hygiene waste. Then the content goes by a separate car for sorting. Third group: food waste.

Food waste makes up 30-40% of the trash can. At the landfill, food waste does not decompose in the usual sense, but rots without access to oxygen, releasing hydrogen sulfide and methane. The first smells bad, the second is the cause of fires. What to do with food waste: 

1.   The most optimal option for nature is composting, but this is suitable for those who live or often happen to be in the country; 

2.   For residents of cities where the collection of food waste is not set up separately, but there is a special sewer, a disposer (chopper under the sink) is suitable .

It grinds any food waste, they go through the sewer to special biogas plants. There, they will facilitate water purification, generate electricity and be neutralized in a silt that has no smell and water.

Fourth group: to deal with the rarities.
