Top 3 mysterious places of our planet, the mystery of which has not yet been revealed

Some of those who have come face to face with these places and tried to unravel their mystery, believe that it was not without otherworldly forces or aliens. Scientists, as you know, do not like mystics, and therefore continue to argue, each time finding new, seemingly rational explanations. However, the fact remains that not all the mechanisms of nature are understandable to man.

So, the first place we want to talk about is called "Mount Vottovaara".

One of the highest points of Karelia, a rocky massif that attracts attention with its landscape consisting of multi-ton boulders piled on small stones. But not only the intricate stone blocks of bizarre shape raise questions. The lakes there are uninhabited, and there are almost no animals and birds. In a word, as if time had stopped in that area.

Of course, there are a lot of rumors around such a point on earth as Mount Vottovaara. For example, it is believed that the Sami sorcerers used these blocks and communicated with spirits there or sacrificed to the ancient gods. Someone believes that elves and trolls live on the mountain. And scientists explain the appearance of boulders "on legs" as a result of the descent of a glacier that covered the whole of Fennoscandia (the territory of northwest Europe). During the retreat, the moving glacier polished and broke rocks, formed cracks and faults, rivers and lakes. A miracle of nature or a civilization that has sunk into oblivion - decide for yourself what to believe!

The second place in our selection of mysterious locations is the intermountain depression in the Mojave Desert and the Great Basin in the western United States in the state of California. 

The depression is a geological formation of a rather narrow shape, its size is approximately 1x5 meters. The interesting thing about it is that it is actually bottomless. So it is believed, because none of the researchers have been able to find its bottom.

Having descended 90 meters, an expedition group of scientists discovered an underground reservoir that goes about 230 meters into the ground. The researchers could not find out more, because measuring instruments and cameras at the reached depth simply turned off from time to time, but what is more strange - people there lost consciousness. As it turned out later, the main reason for this is methane emissions. In addition to the data obtained, scientists also recorded that the rocks surrounding the hole emit a strange sound, similar to a bell ringing, and the sinkhole itself is filled with hot water, which is inhabited by a rare species of fish of the carp-toothed genus. To date, there is no more information about this depression.

The final place we want to talk about will be a petrified well that turns objects into stone. 

The source with such power is located in the UK. Previously, it was believed that its waters have magical power, people were afraid to touch them, for fear of becoming a block of stone. Fortunately, scientists have found a rational explanation for the place enchanted by the Gorgon jellyfish itself and found out that the water in the spring has a high content of metals that envelop objects with a stone shell. That's all.
