Toxic substances in your home!

Good afternoon, friends! Today we will return to the conversation about an eco-friendly lifestyle and talk about which elements in the composition of household chemicals should be avoided.

Most of the components in household chemicals do not pose a threat to humans. However, some elements can cause serious harm to the environment, affecting people in one way or another. The most common unsafe components are: triclosan and triclocarban, phosphates and aerosol propellants.

Broad-spectrum antibiotics - triclosan and triclocarban slow down the growth of fungi, mold and bacteria. As a rule, they are added to household chemicals, liquid and solid antibacterial soap. These substances, getting into the water, prevent bacteria and algae from creating a nutrient medium and accumulate in the bodies of aquatic inhabitants. Liquid and solid soap without antibiotics protects a person from most infections without harm to the environment!
Phosphates are most often used in washing powders, gels for washing and washing dishes: they soften water and provide better foaming. The ingress of phosphates into reservoirs provokes esterification: blue-green algae grow, release toxic substances, poisoning aquatic inhabitants. Phosphate foam prevents sunlight and oxygen from entering the water. Scientists believe that it is possible to replace phosphate-containing products with: powders with zeolites or phosphonates. Switching to such means will not completely protect nature, but it will significantly reduce the load on it.

Aerosol propellants allow a person to use more of the product contained in a high-pressure balloon: air freshener, insect spray and aerosol paint. Due to overuse, bottled hydrocarbons account for 93% of all emissions of volatile organic compounds that degrade air quality, form greenhouse gases and toxic formaldehydes. Give preference to non-bottled products to minimize the threat to the planet!

When choosing home supplies, pay attention to the presence of the Russian eco-label "Leaf of Life" - a round white-green icon with a leaf in the center.

For the sake of your safety and the preservation of the environment, we recommend paying attention to the compositions of not only food, but also household chemicals, with which you regularly come in close contact!
